Unfortunately we are not appraisers and we just do not know what every Crumb collectible that's out there is worth. There are too many items out there, and there are too many variables regarding the issue to be able to provide pricing and grading for items we don't sell. Try contacting a comic book dealer who specializes in vintage underground material. If anyone wants to recommend any we'd consider posting a link on our links page.
"What can you tell me about R. Crumb's Cheap Suit Serenaders?"
R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders was Robert Crumb, Bob Armstrong, and Al Dodge, and later some other guys as well. They played 1920s bluegrass in the Bay Area in the late 70s. They had three records that were released by Blue Goose Records, as small record label that, of course, has been picked apart by the music corporations in the time since. Robert played the banjo. He also did some singing. The band was good, they wrote some new stuff and started to get some notoriety around San Francisco. Other members may still play together but Robert hasn't been part of the group in quite some time.
"Will R. Crumb sign my...?"
We get dozens of requests like this every week. Unfortunately, considering the different locations of all the people involved with the site, and the organizational challenges, this is just way too complicated and overwhelming to even try to attempt. We do sell signed items on the site, some of which are also numbered, and some which come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Not every item on the site is signed. If it's not listed as signed, it's not signed and will not be signed. It's not that we like saying no to this request, it's just not a service we can provide.
"What happened to the Message Boards?"
Unfortunately we've had a number of problems with our message boards and they've been shut down on more that one occasion. Until we're confident the that various issues have been ironed out, it's better to keep the boards down, than to start them up and shut them down over and over again. If you'd really like to see them back send us an email and make your voice heard.
"I want to get ahold of Crumb regarding a licensing issue. Who do I need to contact?"

There are probably comic collectors that have every character and every appearance and event and all the stats about them memorized. Some of these details we know like the back of our hand. Others are very vague, and some we'd really have to dig for. We like to answer questions like this for people, but we get a lot and we don't always have time to doing the digging we need to. Your welcome to send us questions like this, but please understand, we can't respond to many of them.
"Will Robert draw me, draw something for me?"
Thousands of people ask this question every year and if Robert had all the time in the world and nothing else to think about I'm sure he would want to try to make everyone happy. But it's just not possible which is why there is such a demand for his original art. That isn't to say that it's impossible to commission art from Robert but consider how much his original art sells for and consider how busy he is with his current projects.
"Do you have this item that's not on your website?"
If you don't see it most likely we don't have it for sale. There are rare exceptions. There will be a few very limited items that we don't post on the site and the only way to get information when those are available is to join our mailing list. You can subscribe and unsubscribe yourself, and we don't send out more than a couple of emails a month, so we're not exactly talking spam here. "Is this really the R. Crumb family site? What does that mean, who is involved?"
The site was created and designed in the mid 90s by Robert's son Jesse Crumb. As the site grew Jesse asked family friend Alex Wood to help manage the site. Alex is the printer/publisher that produces the Wildwood Crumb prints and he keeps inventory and ships most of the items on the site. The site also sells items for other members of the family and family friends whom also help provide content and direction for the site. Emails go directly to our web guy, Todd (beanlynch) who then directs many messages to Robert's family in France or California, to Alexander Wood, or whomever the appropriate person might be to provide him with a response that addresses the sender's inquiries.
"Do you wholesale for retailers?"
We don't publish everything we sell on the site ourselves and the things we do publish we offer at our wholesale price. We're a direct retail outlet, and yes, there are many new items on the site that are exclusive, not because we want to cut out retailers, but because we offer our lowest price directly to the public for these items.
