In 2023, Crumb drew this second portrait of Robert Johnson. Initially, there was only one known photograph of Robert Johnson and that was known as the "photo booth" portrait taken in the early 1930's. Then, in 2020, another photograph of Robert Johnson was discovered, and this one was taken in a photographer's studio. Crumb has illustrated that second photograph in pen and ink, and we're now releasing it as an etching edition of fifty prints. If you look closely at this illustration, I think you'll be able to see that Crumb, as far as his illustrating ability is concerned, is at the top of his game!

The Hahnemuhle archival paper is 13" x 17" with an embossed area of 9" x 12." The image itself is 8" wide by 11" long. Each print is numbered, signed and dated by R. Crumb. This print comes with our guarantee for your full satisfaction or your money back. Please, only one print per customer.

Crumbs Etching Editions

I love that Crumb does these prints. I would never be able to afford an original drawing but it allows me a way into the path that his pencil and pen take. The quality and line work is amazing.

Keep on keepin' on ,Banjo Boy!

What can I say? I've got "Hellhound On my Trail" hangin' on my wall AND tattooed on my right shoulder, and now, an authentic Crumb-signed RJ on my wall! Ever since the early days of The Nickelodeon at the O'Farrell, I've been crazy 'bout your pickin' and drawin'. Thanks for some of the best memories of my lifetime, Robert! Aline, thanks for helping to keep him alive - love you both!

Robert Johnston etching

Great piece of art representing a true icon in American blues culture. The drawing has great details in it and is a wonderful tribute! R. Crumb continues his talented run related to old blues and jazz artists here. Glad to have it in my collection.

Exceptional etching

Been collecting Crumb serigraphs and etchings since attending a post documentary screening gallery exhibition in Madison, WI way back in the magical mid-1990s. Each release continues to deepen my appreciation of Crumb’s work. This etching is one of my favorites. The care and precision that goes into each release is readily apparent, and makes me a dedicated collector.
